Railway line in Sammet Shikharji

Jain community in India is demanding Railway line in Sammet Shikharji, greatest Jain pilgrimage center. There is no railway track in this pilgrimage center. There are stations in Parasnath and in Giridih, both located in Jharkhand state and pilgrims have to go via these stations. A railway station in Madhuban (Shikharji) will ease journey of pilgrims. It will also helpful for local residents. This is worth noted that Sammet Shikharji is the holy Jain pilgrimage center where 20 of 24 Jain Tirthankars attained Nirvana. The Teerth is situated on a hill called Parasnath hill.

Jyoti Kothari, convener, Sakal Jain Samaj, Jaipur has demanded railway between Parasnath and Giridih writing letter to Sri Sadanand Gowda, Union Railway minister. Sri Kamal Vinayka, Hazaribagh, is demanding the railway track since 20 years. However, union government not yet sanctioned the project. He met Jyoti Kothari in Jaipur few months back and he assured him taking the matter to new government. Jyoti Kothari also wrote a letter to Sri Narendra Modi assuming him as next Prime Minister of India. As soon as the government formed he took the matter to Sri Sadanand Gowda, Union Railway minister.

Sri Ravindra Kumar Pandey, MP, Giridih is also supporting the demand. Jyoti Kothari called him today and thanked him for his support. He also informed him that a delegation of Jain community will meet the Railway minister soon. Mr. Pandey told him to continue his support.

All Jains are requested to send letters to the Railway minister to accelerate this. Pl mail to this address sadanandagowda@yahoo.com. Local people are also requested to raise demand through various means.

Kummar Chatterjee sings Jain classical in Jaipur


Kummar Chatterjee, Jain classical singer

Mr. Kummar Chatterjee sang Jain classical songs in Jaipur on Sunday, May 25, 2014. Bothra Foundation with Shruti Mandal organized the event at Maharana Pratap Sabhagar, Vidyashram. Mr Chatterjee is a renowned classical singer performing Jain events internationally. He is specialized in singing Jain Mantra, Sutra and Stotra in classical music. He is from Shantipur, West Bengal and presently living in Mumbai

At Maharana Pratap auditorium in Jaipur, he started with chanting Navkar Mahamantra and several other Stutis. He then sang a devotional song "Anand ki ghadi aai" by Upadhyay Yashovijayji. The next one was "Rishabh Jineshwar Pritam" by Adhyatma Yogi Sri Anandghanji. He amalgamated " Namastava Sutra (Logass Ujjoyagare") with the song. Jyoti Kothari, comparing the program introduced Upadhyay Yashovijayji and  Anandghanji. He also connected Navkar Mahamantra with classical form of music. He explained how Logass Sutra helps in Kundalini Jagaran and connected with Sapt Chakra of Yoga.

Mr. Kummar Chatterjee then sang "Aisi karo bakhshish" by Sri Gunavilasji and "Jin tere charan ki sharan grahun" by Yashovijayji. He chanted "Shakrastava Sutra" (Namotthunam Arihantanam) and Prarthana Pranidhan Sutra (Jayveeyaraya Jagaguru) along with the devotional songs. He inspired everyone in the audience to chant "Namo Jinanam Jiya bhayanam" to get rid of all kinds of fears. Jyoti Kothari was explaining all along.

The next one was "Kalpasutra Sukhkari" by Sri Veervijayji. " Uvasaggaharam Stotra" by Bhadrabahu Swami was chanted with Parshwanath Ashtak devoted to Lord Parasnath. He sang and chanted "Ajiyasanti Stava" by Sri Nandishen Muni on public demand. The Stava is one of the oldest Jain song composed in Prakrit language devoted to two Lords Ajeetnath and Shantinath.

Parasnath Stuti "Drem drem ki dha pa ma pa" written by Dada Jin Kushal Suri was an added attraction. Dada Jin Kushal Suri  composed this with the notations of ancient Indian musical instrument Sarangi. He finished with "Padmavati Ashtak" and "Bhairav Ashthak". Both of these Stotras were chanted in Druta Laya. He sang all devotional songs and Stotras in classical for using various Raga and Ragini. Mr Kummar also explained healing power of these Mantra, Stotra and Sutras.  There was a standing oration for the singer and the organizer Sri Subhash Bothra.

Hon'ble Justice Sri Manish Bhandari, Rajasthan High court; Padmabhushan Sri D R Mehta, former chairman, SEBI; Sri Vimal Chand Surana and Sri Bhaskar Bhai Chowdhury lighted the lamp to initiate the event. Sri Prakash Chand Surana, President, Shruti Mandal presented flower bouke to Sri Kummar Chatterjee and Subhash Bothra to Hon'ble Justice Sri Manish Bhandari, Chief guest. Sri Manak Kala, convener, Sakal Jain Samaj, Jaipur; Sri Sanjeev Bothra, Bothra foundation; and Sri Mahendra Choudhuri garlanded the accompanists likes of Manas Bhuiyan, Milind Shevde and Shailesh. Pranay Bharadwaj introduced the artists before starting of the program.  

Jyoti Kothari, compared entire program by explaining Mantra, Sutra, Stotra and Bhajan and extended vote of thanks.

Jain music event in Jaipur May 25


Bothra Foundation will organize a special musical event at Maharana Pratap Sabhagar, Vidyashram, Malviyanagar, Jaipur on Sunday evening, May 25. Shruti Mandal will be co-organizer. "Sri Kummar Chatterjee, Mumbai will be the main singer", said Subhash Bothra, "this type of event is happening first time in Jaipur".

Sri Kummar Chatterjee is a renowned classical singer (vocalist) and specialist in Jain music. He has developed a new area in the field of Jain music. He chants Jain Mantras, Sutras and Stotras in various classical Raga/ Ragini. He chants Navkar, Shakrastava, Uvasaggaharam, Bhaktamar, admavati Stotra etc in classical form. It is very difficult to chant all these Prakrit and Sanskrit Shlokas using classical music as pronunciation and punctuation of these are difficult. Maintaining rhythm is more difficult taking into account Pad, Sampada etc.

It is expertise of  Mr. Chatterjee that he maintains all these things while using various form of classical songs. He also use this as healing therapy for chronic diseases. He, being expert classical singer, practiced long time Jain chanting in guidance of Jain ascetics and conducted researches on the topic. Combination of hard work, able guidance, research and overall devotion made him expert of this science.

Panch Kalyanak and Vedi Pratishtha at Shyamnagar, Jaipur

Digambar Jain community has been organizing Panch Kalyanak and Vedi Pratishtha ceremony at Adinath Jain temple, Shyamnagar, Jaipur from May 15 to May19. Digambar Jain Acharya 108 Sri Vardhaman Sagar Ji Maharaj along with his four ascetics and Aryika Sri Gauravmati Mataji have been blessing this occlusion with their presence. The ceremony will be going on till May 19.

Shwtambar Jain Sangh, Sodala (Jaipur) has generously provided their complete premises free of cost to the orgnaizing committee showing Digambar-Shwetambar Jain unity. Jyoti Kothari, convener, Sakal Jain Samaj met Acharya Sri Vardhaman Sagar Ji and took his blessings to achieve the goal of Jain unity. Acharya Sri praised the efforts of Sakal Jain Samaj, Jaipur to unite Digambar and Shwetambar Jain communities.

It is worth noted that Sakal Jain Samaj, Jaipur organized series of discourses for 42 days in last Chaturmas where Digambar Jain saint Sri Tarunsagar Ji Maharaj and Shwetambar Jain saints Sri  Lalitprabhsagar Ji Maharaj and Sri Chandraprabhsagar Ji Maharaj delivered their Pravachan together. Since then, Sakal Jain Samaj, Jaipur has been putting painstaking efforts to unite both the communities by organizing joint events. They have already organized Forgiveness day  Kshmavani, New year meet and Mahavira Jayanti program in which several Digambar and Shwetambar Jain ascetics blessed members of both commnunities with their auspicious presence.
