Chhattisgarh state denied minority status to Jain community

Jain minority status news Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh state government recently denied religious minority status to Jain community. I have got this information through a facebook group about Jain minority. Chhattisgarh state government declared Jain community as a religious minority in 2002. However, the announcement itself was disputed. It has some legal lacuna.

Jain is a religious minority and no body can deny the fact. Article 25 to 30 of the constitution speak about minority status.  However, an amendment in constitution gives right to central and state governments to notify a religious community as minority. Any community can be treated as minority only after such notification by concerning governments.

It is better to be united to fight for the right cause and request Chhattisgarh government to re-enforce minority status for Jain community.

Jain community can take benefit of minority status
