Fellowship for Masters in US on Jain Studies

My friend Neptune Shrimal, Miami, Florida, US has posted this in FB and asked to spread this. Pl take advantage of the same.

 Anyone know of any good student interested to do a Masters in US on Jain Studies. The student can be from any one of the diverse field: Religious Studies, History, Philosophy, Art and Architecture. The student has to pass GRE and TOEFL -- i.e., meet my university's admission criterion.

Latika & Rajiv Jain Fellowship in Religious Studies/ Jain Studies

at Florida International University

Candidates are sought for a two-year graduate fellowship to be awarded to a highly qualified and motivated student in Religious Studies with a concentration in Jain Studies.

Candidates should have a B.A. (all fields will be considered), an undergraduate GPA higher than 3.5, and meet university requirements for admission.

The fellowship will cover tuition, fees and stipend for two academic years and supplement to defray the tuition and fees of intervening summer. Study or research in India is possible. It is expected that the holder of this fellowship will pursue an M.A. thesis in Jain studies.

Deadline for applications is March 1, 2013, and the fellowship will be tenable from August 2013.

Navpad Oli started today

 Navpad oli, an important Jain festival has started today, October 21. Navpad alias Siddhachakra has immense importance in Jainism. Jain worship Navpad in Navpad oli for nine days. It comes twice in a year in Chaitra and Ashwin. This is Ashwin oli.

Large numbers of devotees worship Siddhachakra and observe Ayambil (Amil) in these days. They worship Arihant, Siddha, Acharya, Upadhyay, Sadhu, Samyag Darshan, Jnyan, Charitra and Tap during these nine days of Navpad Oli.
